Yes it's a section souly devoted to banners. See, occasionally I moonlight for companies that want to place banners on an ad-server but don't want to use DART or its ilk. I mainly use OpenX (or OpenAds as it was called) and this sometimes has makes it necessary for me to demonstrate for publishers that the invocationcodes (small piece of javascript) do work.
The reasons for using OpenX are:
- Open source: it's nice to be able to edit stuff and help development of the tool
- Easy to tweak how the banner behaves: I like to use the Google Analytics campaign variables in the target URL This way I can see not only the amount of impressions and clicks but also what the results are on the campaignsite (#visits, bouncerate, conversions etc). Check the URLbuilder.
